Sold on Birkenstocks

Birkenstocks have done something of 180 ever since Phoebe Philo sent furry updates on the orthopedic staple down the runway for Celine S/S 2013. And while they may still be the marmite of footwear, I for one am totally sold on them. Especially good when teamed with baggy rolled-up jeans and a pair of brown ankles (read Kate Moss in her The Face glory days).

My favourites are the black two-strap ones here.

Note: Thanks to Studded Hearts for the Bassike look book pictures (middle two) that only served to cement my 'yes' to Birkenstocks.

Found

While my hunt for the perfect vintage Levis dungarees continues, these Topshop ones are a pretty good find to fill the void and I've already snapped them up just in case Spring ever decides to show its face here in London....

Get there here.

Country Girl

Did a little thing with Asos recently for their October issue.  It was such a fun day with a really cool, welcoming team so massive thank you to all involved for making it such a great day.  It was the day before I flew to Spain and was the perfect start to my holiday. The jumper in the top picture was my fave piece of the whole day and definitely on my shopping list-I think I will actually turn into a waffle knit this winter!

I'll post the link when it's up on the asos site as it'll probably be easier to read the interview from there.

Tribal Hardwear

Loving these tribal necklaces for summer time, especially when teamed with that warm, burnt orange colour-I am constantly picking up everything and anything is shops in that colour at the mo.  Styled by the gorgeous Alexandra Spencer of 4th and Bleeker...

Proenza Schouler

From the good girl with a rock and roll edge, to Wednesday Adams on Acid....If Proenza Schouler's spring summer collection could be summaried as 'Surf's up', their new A/W collection could be called 'when edward (scissorhands) met Patti (Smith)...in tie dye'.  Ok, not the punchiest of summaries but I think it does the job.  I hate to say it, but I really didn't like some of the models they cast in the show, but this definitely didn't detract from some of the amazing looks that tore down the runway.  Just like Philip Lim, Proneza Schouler showcased some epic shoes teamed with mini mesh dresses and thick fur-trimmed coats with blue/green hues that reflected their last much-coveted tie-dye collection.  More than anything, I'm glad to see the pale and intersting goth look is back with attitude for A/W 10, only this time black leather and mesh is given a techno overhaul with oceanic tones and technical prints.  Crushed velvet leggings and graphic prints in aqua blues and greens create a 'new goth' look that takes it's attitude from the mean streets of New York and 80s pop culture references, rather than Dracula and black and white horror movies.  Gothic black lace is exchanged for sheer mesh and long black coats are swapped for cropped jackets with an almost nautical feel which continued the 'surfer in the city' theme they impressed with back in September. I love the fact that this collection is a real extension of Proenza Schouler's last, only with an injection of grunge for winter.  WOW!!!!!

Leopard

Under the weather and feel a big fat cold coming on...hopefully desperate housewives, carrot cupcakes and online shopping will do the trick.  My fur coat is still in constant in the hope to get rid of the sore throat/snuffly nose but somehow I'm convinced this one would beat the big Freeze and winter blues a whole lot better.  On the up side, I'm hopefully booking my summer holiday this weekend-super excited about sun, sand and getting a tan...yoga must commence so it can be bikini body ahoy (after I've finished the cupcakes and watched the whole season of desperate housewives that is).

Feast your eyes..

Quick post of a few of the thigs ive saved over the last week on my boyfriends computer, mainly from fashion canvas I think but not sure about some of them. Getting more and more into my interiors shots (a sure sign of getting old and domesticated) and I'm still such a sucker for cigarette shots....

C is for Chanel (on Chung)

Now, (gasp) I'm not actually normally a huge fan of Alexa's style...but she looks amazing clad in a whole lotta Chanel at the Chanel Couture show.  And what a maverick for getting her clogs on first...just how the hell is she walking in them in tights?! Deserves even more praise if you ask me...  Found some awesome clogs in Zara the other day...go and find them if you are a fan of Austrian yodling style like me.

Shoe Love

I found the ideal winter clog boots in the shape of these Swedish Hasbeens clog jodphur boots (middle), saw them in Urban Outfitters but their yet to come online. The Acne booties at the top are insane and Jeffrey Campbell has done an amazing copy too (look out for them at Bunnyhug) and I just saw the bottom wedges on Elle...strappy black lovelies.

Ever since I saw this little series of snapshots of Dree on Jak & Jil I've been hankeing afetr half leather, half denim 'pants', (I'm sorry, trousers just doens't cut it with these guys), but to zero avail....so the gold at the end of this rainbow looks liek its gonna be these Siwy half mesh, half denim pants.  And dramatically reduced in the sale...birthday on thursday so perhaps these shall be my party pants.
