Kane Close-Ups

The inimitable Christopher Kane has done it again.

Clearly feeling confident, and rightly so after his recently signed deal with PPR, Kane ticked all the boxes with his A/W 2013 collection. Admittedly it took a few once-overs to take it all in (60 looks made for a pretty meaty collection), but it pretty quickly became one of those stand-out shows that just keeps on giving in terms of detail and technical precision.

And while the camouflage kilts and fur coats are seriously covetable thanks to Kanes wearable breed of cool, I think its when you get a little closer that those intricate details really come into their own. Take the undone loop-stitch seams on the velvet pieces for example. So perfect in their imperfection you wonder why you ever wanted a dress that didnt fall open at the seams.

Mexican Summer

A getaway to Tulum is in the making and I'm subsequently, and somewhat prematurely, finding inspiration in all things suitably sun-soaked and colourful. I may be a grey and black girl throughout the winter, but come Summer I'm all for a loud and proud pattern and Mexico's traditional embroidered dresses and brightly coloured woven bags are already on my souvenir list.

These are all taken from my latest, over-excited Pinterest board so get on over there if you like what you see.

Clare Vivier Monogram Duffle

Along with Jenni Kayne's D'Orsay flats, this is currently sitting at the top of my dream-on wishlist. Somehow that red zip and pair of gilded initials make all the difference to a simple, albeit amazing quality, black duffle.

I visited the beautiful Clare Vivier store when I was in L.A last year but, after ogling her collection of brightly coloured leather clutches and striped purses, I stupidly left empty-handed. My boyfriend was only in L.A last week too, just around the corner from said store, but once again I neglected to send him armed with a shopping list. An ommision I'm sure both he and my bank account are grateful of.

Still, if it's good enough for Waris...

210213-1

210213-2

I'm slowly defrosting after what seems like the coldest February
in the history of snowy winters. When the sun finally made its dramatic
appearance yesterday it was all about getting those sunglasses back on this pale face.
Fashion week photos was skipped and replaced with hot coffee - what I'm
trying to say is that I didn't get that many great shots due to frozen
fingers, so I won't be doing anymore fashion week posts this time.
The only thing left to do now is waiting those ten days until spring
is officially here!

Daria by Cass Bird for Maiyet

As you can probably tell by a distinct lack of outfit posts recently, I'm feeling pretty uninspired in terms of getting dressed in the morning. After a long few months hiding beneath the same old coats, I am definitely ready for Spring.  And while the new season catwalks are great for stirring the sartorial spirits, nothing beats a bit of sunshine and light for rediscovering any love lost for the contents of your wardrobe.

So you can probably understand why the latest campaign by Cass Bird for Maiyet featuring the effortlessly beautiful Daria Wetrbowy instantly struck a chord. Shot in Jaipur (top of my current to-go list), it drove me to re-visit some of the brand's previous campaigns, all of which have that free-spirited feel that makes you want to drop everything, buy a ticket and run for the Indian hills.
