Triple Stripes

It's no secret that stripy tees are an essential part of my day-to-day uniform (apologies to those who follow me on Instragram for the regular Breton updates), so when online boutique Atterley Road asked me to style up some of the nicest stripes I've seen yet (by French label Saint James), it felt like one of the easier tasks I've been set.

Embarrassingly enough, I was actually wearing stripes when I first went to meet the lovely Gemma from Atterley Road so the task in hand was immediately very apt! There's just something very easy about the Breton top; it dresses down leather trousers and short-short skirts and feels almost nostalgic, without being twee, with just about everything else. My favourite way to wear it is with denim cut-offs and Vans in the summer, but given we're firmly in the throws of Autumn in London, I gave the basic a bit more of a wintery spin.

Classic French staples up top, elevated basics from the waist down; I like the mix of mannish, oversized pea coat and mini leather skirt - it kind of detracts from the glaring sight that is bare legs post August.

These stripes were the loudest of the three so they needed the most dressing down. Ripped boyfriend jeans, biker jacket and patent booties (yep I succumbed to the new skort of Zara world) managed to veer the whole look away from the obvious seaside connotations.

Wearing Saint James tee, Gap jeans (customised by me), HnM biker jacket, Zara boots.

Black leather skinnies and pointy heels don't feel quite so 'done' (or corporate come to that) when teamed with a Breton sweater.

Wearing Saint James top, Twist & Tango coat, Whistles clutch, HnM faux leather pants, Zara heels.

It's Time

I've subconsciously stopped wearing my gold Michael Kors chronograph watch recently. I think mainly because yellow gold next to sallow winter skin is never that appealing, and partly due to the gold just feeling a bit 'much' of late.

I've always been drawn to two-tone metal watches and was originally looking for a gun metal/rose-gold combination prior to buying my MK gold one, but failed to find one that ticked the boxes for both looks and price.

Well, it looks like Mr. Kors read my mind on this one, with yet another covetable, affordable watch to hanker after. Time* for an update me thinks.

Just leave one for me....

*Apologies for the toe-curling puns. The lowest form of wit, or so I'm frequently told, and yet so hard to avoid/resist.

Daria for Vogue Ukraine

Daria Werbowy graces the cover of the first ever issue of Vogue Ukraine, doing modern Bohemia as only she can. Turns out she makes a pretty good cover candidate considering she's half Ukrainian (a little fact I picked up from Molly).  Really loving the mascara-free beauty too-such a small detail and yet makes a huge difference.

Dungarees: Never say Never

I, along with every other kid growing up in the 90s, spent a large portion of my youth in stripy OshKosh B'Gosh dungarees and have spared them little thought ever since. In fact, I remember once stating that dungarees would be one fashion trend I would 'never' dip into. Well, time to eat my words, as I'm now fixated on shopping for the perfect overalls.

First up, I'm after a black leather pair in the vein of Alexandra Spencer (the girl is a lesson in how to do grown-up dungarees) and the best I've found so far are by Philip Lim and Whistles (last picture).ASOS also do a good pair in both leather and denim.

And there's something about classic blue denim shorties with turned up hems that's seriously appealing for relaxed summer days. The summer days part of that statement feels like wishful thinking right now but who knows, maybe the dungarees will make them feel just that little bit closer.

Saturday at LFW

I found this shot of me from Saturday at fashion week wearing my current favourite jeans from Zara that I did a little DIY knee-ripping job on. A little tip for adding wear and tear to jeans-use a cheese grater! It works really well at creating natural-looking rips and frayed ends.

Wearing Zara jeans and shoes, Joseph jumper, H&M leather vest, Mango coat and Celine bag.

Thanks to Stockholm Street Style for the photos.
