Uniform

I've found myself really going off silk shirts recently (too clingy and perilous for a haphazard eater like myself), favouring super-soft washed cotton styles that almost verge on preppy instead.  Not my thing at all normally, but with low-slung jeans and lots of leather I think it kind of works and is something of a fuss-free uniform I keep turning to at the moment.

I picked up this one by Something Else in the sale from Urban Outfitters a few weeks ago but you can get similar ones from Boy. by Band of Outsiders, MiH Jeans, and The Row.

Seen here with trusty Office boots, Zara jeans and Whistles jacket.

Turtle and the Hare

After a few days in Stockholm (AKA my new favourite city) for fashion week, I'm starting to look ahead to Winter's shorter days, longer nights, and it being cool enough to pull on my current knitwear of choice.
Turtlenecks, polonecks, rollnecks-whatever you choose to call them, I plan on spending a lot of time in one as soon as the temperature starts to drop. The thought is almost making me look forward to the onset of Autumn....

It's time for the last post about Copenhagen Fashion Week for now, right? Well, this crazy summer  has been all about the ups and downs. After feeling rather uninspired for a while, I'm finally back fully recharged. I'm quite busy and doing a lot of exciting projects. This coming weekend I'm doing a speech about personal style and after that I need to focus on the up coming exhibition I'm contributing to along with Henrik Vibskov and many other nordic stylists, writers and designers. Very excited!

Besides the show I've already blogged about I also loved Freya Dalsj, Anne Sofie Madsen, Tabernacle Twins and Stine Goya - very talented and innovative ladies! I had some absolutely fabulous days! The third outfit was a second hand blazer and brooch, a Topman jumper, Zara trousers and a new hit on my shoe-shelf; the Christian Pellizzari sandals with American Apparel socks.

After one and a half year without a show Barbara Gongini came out of the dust with a very loyal and more wearable collection with better cuts than ever! When the music started and the lights came on the catwalk we all knew it was going to be extremely dark and intense. Model after model stepped out the concret wearing dusty wigs and androgynous robes in white, grey, black and neon yellow. Added Rick Owens inspired sneaks Barbara showed a thoroughly and dark collection of international standard. Even though it's far away from my style I really love the setting and atmosphere at her shows!

Attending the Asger Juel Larsen show is something like falling down the rabbit hole in Alice in Wonderland - a little more gothic. Just a little.
With lifesize skulls hanging around the models necks Asger showed us a wonderfully playful collection with great silhouettes and fantastic stumpy jumpers. Need to get one of those!

Leather and Leopard

After a 6 years of endless wear, many 'where-did-you-get-that's and numerous near-misses in terms of losing it, my beloved Topshop leather jacket has finally succumbed to threadbare elbows and a slightly greenish tinge and subsequently forced me to, very guiltily, to reinvest in a shiny new biker courtesy of Whistles.

London was unrelentingly hot yesterday but it was just about cool enough to throw on my new purchase for a few shots (and then hastily removing it to head down into the sweltering tube).

Worn here with vintage Levis cut-offs, LNA T-shirt, Bertie leopard pony skin boots, Topshop belt and Celine bag.

The quilted leather biker jacket is called the Marlon quilted and is by Whistles.

From one kind of to another. The last days I've been offline reconstructing my room with paint all over my world. Now I'm back with the last posts of Copenhagen Fashion Week! For day two I wore my new and extremely shiny Pollini shoes and a polo I made some days before it all began - very Givenchy inspired! In addition to that second hand shorts and bag and a homemade bracelet.

Circa 1988

This was Anna Wintour's first ever U.S Vogue cover in 1988. Apparently the only reason the model's wearing denim is because she'd put on a bit of weight and couldn't fit into the Couture picked out for the shoot. Just goes to show, sometimes when things don't go to plan, it can end up leading to great, unexpected results.

Love her smile and the get-up which, 24 years on, now feels current all over again.

Visiting David Andersen backstage as well as at his office is always a pleasure - there is time for a talk and the room is filled with energy and passion! I took a closer look on the SS13 collection before the show and one thing I especially loved was the way he styled the male torso. Vest on jumper on shirt on turtleneck - most of them in white. A great way to build up some volume and still get the feeling of summer. I need to try that myself!
